Community Health Experience (CHE)

For second-year NYCOM medical students

Programming includes:

  • Provides community-based, non-clinical internships for future doctors who have expressed interest in working in medically underserved communities
  • Enhances medical education experience with curriculum and hands-on experience in community health and health disparities
  • Weekly didactic curriculum, including guest speakers covering Health Policy, Health Literacy, Immigrant Health, and Health Disparities

This program is a partnership between the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and the NY Metropolitan Regional AHEC office and the three AHECs serving New York City (Manhattan-Staten Island AHEC, Brooklyn/Queens/Long Island AHEC, and Bronx/Westchester AHEC). The Metro AHECs are looking to expand the Community Health Experience Program to other health professions schools and community organizations. If you are interested, please contact us at 212-534-2432.
